IndieVillage Back Alley Cinema Summer ScreeningsIndie Village is a company dedicated to the expansion and global exchange of independent arts with a specific emphasis on indie film to audiences who are beyond traditional distribution . In many cultures around the world and even in our own backyard some of the best stories are still the ones shared between the kids playing on the street, the teenagers hanging out on corner, men and women in the marketplace and the old men sitting in front old coffee shops . As an opportunity to revive some of the neglected spaces in the urban core and promote the development of livable cities, IndieVillage aims to push stories back onto the street through its back alley film screenings. Under the evening sky people from all walks of life will meet together to hear stories as told by indie filmmakers from both Canada and around the world. Screenings will be FREE to the public and be designed to piggyback on existing festivals in different countries.Indie Village Back Alley Cinema will be launched this year during the summer 2009 as part of the Pedestrian Sundays street festival held in Toronto’s Kensington Market - Read more about the car free pedestrian sundays at kensington this summer at pskensington.ca. The event which runs on the last Sunday of every month between May and October will showcase films in line with the festival’s monthly themes.
